How your NorthTech installation works

From your house plans to the three-month tune-up: what happens at each step, and what we need from you. Nothing here is a surprise on the day.

Timeframes follow your builder's program. We confirm dates with you as each step approaches.

Stage 1

Agree what we're building.

Design from your house plans
Send us your builder's or architect's plans. We mark up every room with the systems you want: alarm, CCTV, access control, lighting, audio-visual, network and Control4.
What we need from you
The latest plans, and a word about how you use each room.

Proposal
You receive a written proposal setting out the design, equipment and scope room by room. We talk it through and adjust it until it suits you.
What we need from you
Read it over and tell us what to change.

Contract signed
Once you're happy, the proposal becomes your contract. Signing locks in the scope and lets us book your job into our schedule.

Sign and return the contract.

Stage 2

Every cable documented and into the walls.

Documented with a cable schedule
Every cable is recorded in a cable schedule: what it is, where it runs and where it ends. It guides the installation and stays on file for future service.
What we need from you
Check the room list matches how you'll use each space.

Rough-in installation
While the walls are open, we run all the cables and fit every back box. Getting this right now means no cutting into finished walls later.
What we need from you
Site access, and a heads-up if your builder's timing changes.

Pre-plaster photography
Before the plasterer closes the walls, we photograph every cable and back box in place. We can always see exactly what's behind a wall.
What we need from you
Nothing to do. The photos are kept with your job record.

Plaster cut-out
Once plastering is done, we return and cut out each back box so it's ready for fit-off.
What we need from you
Let us know when the plaster is finished.

Stage 3

Built, tested and handed over.

Workshop pre-build
We build and test your control equipment in our workshop first: racks, switches, controllers and power. Problems get fixed here, not in your home.
What we need from you
Nothing to do. We'll confirm your fit-off date.

Fit-off and programming
We install the pre-built equipment, fit off every device, then program and test each system. Before we leave, we walk you through how it all works.
What we need from you
Be home for the handover walkthrough.

Stage 4

Make it fit how you live.

Three-month visit and customisation
Three months after installation we visit for two hours to fine-tune your system: scenes, schedules, camera views and user settings, based on how you actually use it.
What we need from you
Keep a list of anything you'd like changed as you settle in.

Ask us any time. Once your job is under way, every question stays with it, so nothing gets lost.
