Monitoring and ongoing care

Watched around the clock, and looked after in between.

Your alarm shouldn’t rely on you being free to answer it. A Grade A control room watches it day and night, a security patrol can attend, and our own team keeps an eye on your system through OvrC.

Three layers of care

Someone watching, someone attending, someone looking after it.

Grade A control room

Your alarm reports to a monitoring centre graded A under the Australian Standard for alarm monitoring — the highest grade for how a centre is built and protected. It’s staffed every hour of every day.

  • Staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
  • Operators follow the response plan you agree with us
  • Reports by 4G, so it doesn’t rely on a landline or the NBN

Security patrol response

When an alarm activates and nobody can be reached, a licensed security patrol can be sent to check your property, so you don’t have to go and look yourself.

  • Licensed patrol officers attend your property
  • Useful when you’re away, asleep or can’t get home

OvrC remote management

OvrC gives NorthTech a window into your network and connected equipment. We manage it ourselves, in-house — seeing network health, running diagnostics, managing updates and resolving many issues remotely.

  • Many problems fixed without a visit
  • Compatible equipment can be restarted remotely when it stops responding
  • Handled by NorthTech’s own team, not a call centre

When your alarm goes off

What happens next.

  1. 1Your alarm activatesThe 4G dialler reports to the Grade A control room straight away.
  2. 2Operators act on your planThey call you and the contacts you’ve chosen, in the order you’ve agreed.
  3. 3A patrol can attendIf the property needs someone on site, a licensed security patrol is sent.

Common monitoring questions

How much does alarm monitoring cost?
NorthTech Care starts from $350 every three months. It includes 24/7 monitoring, OvrC remote management, priority service and an annual system service — the final package is shaped around your property and the systems installed.
What is a Grade A monitoring centre?
Monitoring centres in Australia are graded against the Australian Standard for alarm monitoring, AS 2201.2. The letter grades how the centre is built and protected against attack, and A is the highest.Source: ASIAL — monitoring centre grading(opens in a new tab)
What happens when my monitored alarm goes off?
Your alarm reports to the monitoring centre straight away. The operators follow the plan you’ve agreed with us — calling you and your chosen contacts — and can send a security patrol to your property if it needs someone on site.
Do I need a landline for alarm monitoring?
No. The landline older alarms used has been switched off with the NBN, so we fit a 4G dialler that reports to the monitoring centre over the mobile network — even when your internet is down.Source: nbn — security monitoring systems(opens in a new tab)
What is OvrC remote management?
OvrC is the platform NorthTech uses to look after your network and connected equipment from our office. We can see when something stops responding, run diagnostics and fix many problems without coming out.
How often is my system serviced under NorthTech Care?
Every year. NorthTech Care includes an annual system service, with a rack clean, battery replacements and any programming changes needed. Without an agreement, we recommend an alarm service at least every two years.
Do you monitor alarms across Melbourne’s north?
Yes. NorthTech is based in Thomastown and looks after monitored alarms for homes and businesses across Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
